This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you visit wafflestudioshop.com. My Etsy shop has a different policy for when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise interact with me via Etsy.com. Please view that policy under “Shop Policies” when you visit my shop page at https://wafflestudioshop.etsy.com.

Who I am

I am Miranda Martin, the owner of WAFFLE Studio. WAFFLE Studio is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. My website address is: https://wafflestudioshop.com. You can contact me at wafflestudioshop@gmail.com.

Information I collect and how

Contact form

I use WPForms to receive messages via my contact page. When you use the contact form to get in touch with me, I will collect your name, email address, and message so that I can respond to you.

I will not use your information to send you unsolicited marketing mail or messages.

Site performance and security plugins

This site utilizes caching via LiteSpeed Cache in order to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience. Caching potentially stores a duplicate copy of every web page that is on display on this site. All cache files are temporary, and are never accessed by any third party, except as necessary to obtain technical support from the cache plugin vendor. Cache files expire on a schedule set by the site administrator, but may easily be purged by the admin before their natural expiration, if necessary. We may use QUIC.cloud services to process & cache your data temporarily. Please see https://quic.cloud/privacy-policy/ for more details.

I use Jetpack and other Automattic services for security and performance functionality. The services include Akismet Anti-spam and VaultPress Backup. The Akisment Anti-spam service is set to display a privacy notice under comment forms. Information the service usually collects includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

Really Simple Security and Really Simple Security add-ons do not process any personal identifiable information, so the GDPR does not apply to these plugins or usage of these plugins on your website. You can find our privacy policy here. We are committed to the security of personal data. We take appropriate security measures to limit abuse of and unauthorized access to personal data. This ensures that only the necessary persons have access to your data, that access to the data is protected, and that our security measures are regularly reviewed.

The security measures we use consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Vulnerability Detection
  • HTTP Strict Transport Security and related security headers
  • TLS / SSL
  • Recommended site hardening features

Analytics

I use Jetpack by Automattic for analytics. I use analytics data exclusively to gain insight into how visitors access and use the site’s tools and pages so that I can make the website more useful for communicating information. I will never sell this data to third-party services.

The website is hosted on servers maintained by Hostinger, which collects additional analytics that I have access to but do not use actively. I will never sell this data to third-party services, nor share any potentially identifying information such as IP addresses.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

This website uses the Privacy Suite for WordPress by Complianz to collect and record Browser and Device-based Consent. For this functionality, your IP address is anonymized and stored in our database. This service does not process any personally identifiable information and does not share any data with the service provider. For more information, see the Complianz Privacy Statement.

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit the website login page, it will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, the site will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who I share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

I will never sell your data to third-party services.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment or send a message through my contact form, the comment/message and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. I also keep messages to be able to refer back to them for important information you might provide to me about my products or services.

For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

All information (data) is retained in the local database indefinitely, unless otherwise deleted.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

As detailed above, I use the following services which collect information when users interact with my website: Hostinger, Automattic (Jetpack, Akismet Anti-spam, VaultPress Backup), WP Forms, LiteSpeed Cache. Please visit the opt-out preferences page for information about specific cookies and services.
